Best Student Paper Award cum Dinner of 2017/18

(HKIE-SSC)
The HKIE-SSC Annual Best Student Paper Award cum Dinner was successfully held
in
YMCA, 41 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui on 12th January 2018. Over 200 fellow
members
and guests spared time out of their busy schedules to share the joy of the
evening. It was a
meaningful gathering organized by the HKIE-SSC on an annual basis for the
safety related
engineers, specialists, technologists, practitioners, professors, lecturers,
students etc. to be
able to meet each other for better connection and discussion/exchange of views
on safety and
health related issues. The dinner began with the Welcoming Address by Ir Dr. Y
S Liu, the
HKIE SSC Chairman; making use of this good chance, Ir Liu highlighted the major
completed events and planned activities of SSC for 2017/18 session.
The HKIE-SSC was deeply honored by the presence of Ir Albert T N Cheng, ED of
Construction Industry Council as the Guest of Honor to address the evening.
The Best Student Paper Award 2017 was presented during the dinner. Sponsors
were
cordially invited as the award presentation guests in the event. We are very
grateful to have
the continuous support of Construction Industry Council, China Light and Power,
and
Hong Kong and China Gas Company Ltd. in sponsoring the Award. The winners were
very happy to obtain their awards and to take photos with sponsor’s
representatives.
Moreover, each sponsor’s logo and name had been shown on the banner and the
leaflet
respectively as a token of thanks. Ir Dr. C M Ho, the Best Student Paper Award

Chairman mentioned that the aims of the Competition was to promote safety and
health in
engineering and science regime; to provide an open and competitive platform for
engineering
students in demonstrating their engineering capabilities and sharing the
learning process in
safety and health as well. The competition winners in three categories were as

After having some delicious foods and drinks, the MC organized various
entertainments to all
the participants and to make the atmosphere more causal and relaxing.
Near the end of the Event, Ir Albert T N Cheng, ED of Construction Industry
Council drew
the grand prize for the dinner. Extensive support was received from the floor
members.
Ir Dr. Joseph Chi, the Annual Dinner OC Chairman expressed thanks to the guests
and
participants. Thanks were given in particular to all OC members in contributing
to the
success of the Event. Ir Chi also expressed thanks on behalf of the SSC for the
generous
sponsorship and support for the dinner/lucky draws/table prizes. All participants
enjoyed a
joyful and relaxing evening and the dinner ended at around 10:30pm.
