Programme Highlights:

Founded in 1862, The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) is the first public utility in Hong Kong. Today, it remains one of the city’s largest energy suppliers, known for its outstanding management and modern business practices.

Furthermore, most of Hong Kong’s town gas is produced at the Towngas Tai Po production plant. This gas is clean, safe, and reliable, made from naphtha and natural gas, with landfill gas used for heating.

In line with the country’s and the HKSAR Government’s carbon reduction goals, Towngas is firmly devoted to clean energy. Currently, hydrogen makes up about half of town gas composition, which is a notable step toward lowering carbon emissions.

This visit highlights the critical role of comprehensive safety management in town gas production operations and providing hydrogen-ready solutions that maintains industry standards and protects both workplaces and the wider community.
