Programme Highlights:

Located in Shenzhen of the Guangdong Province, Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station was the first large-scale commercial nuclear power station in China. It is also one of the earliest joint venture projects launched under China’s reform and opening up policy. In the 1980s, CLP joined hands with China General Nuclear Power Corporation in developing the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station. Since its commissioning in 1994, Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station has been supplying Hong Kong with clean, safe and reasonably-priced nuclear energy through dedicated plant and power lines, embarking CLP’s new milestone in providing its customers with zero carbon energy.

Over the years, nuclear energy from Daya Bay has become an indispensable part in Hong Kong’s fuel mix. Currently, about 80% of electricity produced by Daya Bay is supplied to Hong Kong, meeting about 25% of the city’s electricity needs and supporting the territory’s social and economic development. Nuclear energy is non-carbon emitting during generation, price-competitive and reliable in supply, enabling it to play.
