Recent accident of rope failure in a musical performance draws
engineers to focus on rope safety. The Webinar will review what local
ordinances are governing the rope safety and how engineers are checking the
hoisting ropes particular in lift installations where numerous passengers are
concerned. With review of few past incidents due to rope failure in lift
installations, causes of rope fatigue were identified and related to the suspension
systems of lift installation and their maintenance to be discussed.
Coverage of Cap 618, Lifts and Escalators Ordinance, with rope fatigue,
rust and corrosion and their safety measures will be discussed.
