Professional Background of the Speaker:
Ir KL Lee, Having retired after over 30 years’ service in lift
industry, Ir LEE is continuing to serve this industry on part-time basis as a trainer,
consultant and Professional Engineer in lift/escalator design, installation,
maintenance, modernization, dismantling as well as project management. He is currently a guest lecture of
Occupational Safety & Health Council and a part-time lecturer of THEi. Occasionally,
Ir Lee serves as professional engineer in checking, verifying and testing
lifting appliances & gears as well as conducting energy efficient
assessment and auditing services in respect of lighting, electrical, lifts
& escalators and air-conditioning installations in buildings.
Ir SW Yip, is now a Senior Construction Engineer (Lift &
Escalator) of MTR. Ir Yip has over 30
years’ working experience in the lift industry. He had participated into a numbers of mega
projects such as Sun Hung Kai Centre Double-deck Lifts Installation, Hysan
Place, MTR Tseung Kwan O Extension, West Island Extension, South Island Line,
Kwun Tong Line Extension, Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link and Shatin
Central Link. His experience covers design, installation & maintenance of
lifts and escalators. Ir. Yip had been
appointed as a Chairman of RE/RC Sub-Group for reviewing New Lifts and
Escalators Bill between 2010 and 2012.
He had also involved in professional training for Vocational Training
Centre (VTC) and IMechE (HK branch) in lift and escalator technology between
1998 and 2012.
Programme Highlights:
The 5 scaffoldless
methods for lift installations are Platform lift, Completed car, False car
(Guided-SWP), Gondola and Tower working platform. The Talk will further elaborate these five
installation methods with the CIC Guidelines while Gondola is being used in
Europe and was only trial in HK many years ago. Speakers would also compare the
installation methods in various aspects such as safety level, skill levels of
workers, training required; time efficiency, cost effectiveness and legislative
control, etc..

Certificate will be delivered to participants (who have attended for more than
half of the session) within one month after the online forum conducted.
Registration: Priority will be given to members of HKIE SSC. Vacancy
will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis. The maximum number of
