Speakers will discuss a lasting argument if passengers standing on the right part of escalator steps would expedite the flow rate of passengers during the rush hours. Also, there will be a review of various causes leading to an escalator reversal direction. As a result, requirements to install the second retardation system, the auxiliary brake and its safety test with loads.

In view of escalator accidents in the past, EMSD of HKSAR proposed an escalator modernization scheme in which eight safety devices will be introduced in accordance with the update of local ordinance, Cap 618.
