Derek Lam, Engineering Trade Manager of Hilti (Hong Kong) Ltd
Derek is the
Engineering Trade Manager of Hilti (Hong Kong) Ltd. In his role, he provides
technical advice and solutions in structural connection to owner, consultant
and contractor. From project design to installation as well as site inspection,
he has demonstrated his professionalism not limited to government projects but
also commercial, residential and civil projects. He is also dedicated to raise
the market awareness on safety and productivity by organizing various seminar
and workshops including MTR, CEDD and HKIE.
Derek graduated
from The University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering in
2019. After graduation, Derek joined Hilti as Management Associate and worked
in Engineering and Marketing team for almost five years. He further advances himself
by obtaining a Master of Science in Engineering Enterprise Management from The
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Programme Highlights:
In the seminar, Hilti will provide an
overview of the design theory of anchorage connection, including the steel-to-concrete
and concrete-to-concrete types, explaining corresponding concepts &
technical requirements. The seminar
will also highlight the significance of human factors
in industrial accidents and incidents, focusing on workers’
competency, workmanship, equipment and situational awareness. Moreover, Hilti will introduce the adoption
of “Design for Safety” concept for both permanent and temporary connection and
discuss how safety and quality could be properly secured in jobsite. Moreover, Hilti will present innovative methodologies for enhancing the quality control in
anchorage connection, such as proper product selection, equipment and management process.
