Tentative Programme


Main purposes


  • To reconnect the historic Maritime Silk Route by re-enlivening the region’s historic lighthouses.    

  • To reinforce the relationships among port cities in the region through sharing and exchanging the latest research findings, enriched experience and best practice of historic lighthouses.

     

    Programme highlight

    The symposium is missioned to provide a scholarly platform for all participants to share and exchange cross-disciplinary research findings, interesting knowledge, enriched experience and best practices of historic lighthouses in the region. Eminent speakers and scholars who have been engaged in the management and conservation of historic lighthouses are invited from Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Macao, Taiwan, Singapore and the UK. The topics cover various aspects of historic lighthouses including history, architecture, structural engineering, construction management, operations and maintenance, economics, functions, conservation, heritage and keepers’ unique culture.
