Ir George WaiProfessional Background of the Speaker:
Ir Wai has more than 27 years of experience in the aviation industry. He currently serves in the disciplinary service as Aircraft Engineer (Strategic Maintenance) in Government Flying Service (GFS) under Security Bureau (SB). He has been instrumental to ensure safety, quality assurance, audits and enhance operational capabilities for aircraft engineering. His responsibilities also include asset management, overseeing warranty, procurement, inventory control and contracts related to power-by-hour agreements. He is involved in technical training as Knowledge Examiner and Technical Instructor for HKAR-147 Aircraft Maintenance Training Organisation.
Before his current position, Ir Wai accumulated over 16 years of experience with Civil Aviation Department (CAD) under Transport & Logistics Bureau (TLB), including a role as Acting Senior Operations Officer (Unmanned Aircraft) and
served as an Airworthiness Officer, Strategic Safety Officer, Flight Safety Officer and Helicopter Fleet Officer.
In the realm of QA, Audit, and Compliance, he is specialized in airworthiness and regulatory compliance as a qualified auditor, with experience in audits and safety inspections for local and overseas air operators and maintenance organisation, type certification for Head of Version (HoV) and type-certified aircraft.
Ir Wai also worked as a Technical Services Engineer (Asset Management) and Technical Instructor at HAECO. He was seconded to the flag carrier managing the Asset Management projects.
Ir Wai is also a qualified ICAO Annex 13 Air Accident Investigator and has extensive experience participating in numerous air accident investigations. He has received professional training internationally recognised in quality assurance and safety audit, accident investigations across rail, marine, and air sectors, specialising in air safety and air accident investigation with flight recorder analysis and human factors.

its basic calculations with a case study. Ir Wai will also delve into safety assessment
methodologies, highlighting the systematic approaches used to identify and
evaluate risks associated with aircraft components. He will also discuss the importance of
implementing effective safety mitigation strategies to address these risks,
ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and enhancing overall
safety. By integrating robust asset
management practices with thorough safety assessments, Ir Wai will illustrate
how organizations can minimize potential failures with mitigating actions,
ultimately leading to safer and more reliable aviation operations in asset
management.
